El Ronquillo, my stay
I had found a nice campspot some 3 meters above roadlevel where most people would not see me. Check. And The Tree offers me just enough shade during siesta-time.
Having a place Not in the sun is extremely important since Everything in Spain is Closed for The Siesta-break from ie 14h00 or 15h00 until ie 19h00 or even until 21h00. Which is very frustrating for a traveller since exactly by the time you arrive somewhere, so in the afternoon, you can't drink nor eat nor shop. Not even (for) water ... So during the hottest part of the day you are depending on your own place to have some shade.
This also implies you have to buy all you need for later that day before ie 14h00 and so you have to cycle it all the rest of that day. Especially uphill. Luckily I can hardly eat anything during days I cycle so "all" I have to take care of is water. That might be 1 to 3 bottles so 1.5kgs to 4.5kgs extra weight.
The area was full of thorns and they know how to warn you ...
There are bee-eaters living here. They are continously scanning the world for insects to then attack. I saw my first bee-eater when I was cycling the Ecovia 11 in Portugal 🖱️. Bee-eaters never drink, they can do with the moisture the food has. That makes them a lot more independ of the average landscape.
There is simply nothing special about nor in El Ronquillo and this is all I photographed. However, the welcomingsign is impressive, but there is one only at one side of the town. And the everywhere-gravel when offroad is impressive since that is very sharp here. The chinese sandals I bought this spring in Portugal had already wornout anyway.
And a billboard was announcing the yearly 5-day fair-weekend.
The day I arrived I had already enjoyed the ringsigning-contest for the children on there bicycles. It was great fun to withness that.
Another afternoon there was a horseshow which was very nice to see. Unfortunately it was the wrong time of the day concerning light and shadow at this spot.
The cabins you see in the background can be hired and are ment to facilitate large groups. One has to take care of his own supplies but most of these families choose for catering. And every cabin has a Huge airconditioner of 2 meters high and 1 meter wide. They do all they can to cool down Earth 20C or so. In the open air that is ...
And later in the evenings the area looked like this. But I forgot to take some pictures of the huge dining- and musictent. First they had livemusic until about 23h00 and then the dj's started to not end before 05h30 ...

One very annoying aspect was that someone ignited very heavy (illegal ?) fireworks. All day, every hour, every 10 minutes. It is impossible to get used to that since these 💥 fireworksexplosions 💣 are extremely heavy. But as usual I was the only one disliking that.
